Our monthly chapter meetings are a lot of fun.  We quickly tackle any pending business and move on to show-n-tell.  Some gorgeous items have been shown such as felted bags, scarves, a rose afghan, free-form crocheted items, and a premie afghan.  A member may choose to present a crochet topic.  We have learned about double-ended crochet, viewed crochet booklets dating back to 1948, discussed copyright laws, and discussed yarn weights and hook sizes.  Time permitting, we have open discussion and just crochet and chat until it is time to close the meeting.

Our chapter has chosen to use our Yahoo Group site Always_In_Stitches as our main form of communication.  We are using the Yahoo site not only to chat, share information and ask questions of other members, but to share photos of our work, vote on various issues, post meeting agendas and meeting minutes — in short, it is our online newsletter.  All current/paid chapter members are also members of this group site.

A few of us have been members of the national crochet organization, Crochet Guild of America, for some time but we have not had a local chapter until our founding member and president decided to get the ball rolling and form a chapter.  She spread the word and in April, 2007, with eight people in attendance, we held our first meeting.  Our founder’s suggestion of the name ALWAYS IN STITCHES was a hit with everyone and we officially took on the name.  In short order we appointed a board, set our meeting schedule, wrote up guidelines to work by, and began discussions on what our first community service project would be.
